Quick overview

  • Ways to explore: Phoenix des Lumières is a timed, self-guided visit; current live tickets cover entry to the Monet or Dinosaurs show.
  • What’s included: Both options give access to one show session in the main 360° hall, usually lasting about 45–60 minutes.
  • Extra context: No live guide is included, but the free venue app adds commentary on around 30 works.
  • Family fit: Dinosaurs is the easier pick with children; under-2 visits aren’t recommended, and strollers aren’t allowed inside.
  • Queues & access: Online booking skips the ticket counter; bag checks still apply, and busy entry waits can still take ~10 minutes.
  • Policies & best pick: Tickets are non-refundable, but date/time changes are allowed up to 24 hours before entry. Book online for weekends and holidays.

What to expect at Phoenix des Lumières

Enter the Phoenix Halle

Your visit starts inside a former gas-treating hall at Phoenix West, repurposed as a 360° digital art center. Red brick, steel beams, and 13-meter-high walls set the tone before the projections begin, making the building part of the experience.

Find your view in the hall

Then you step into the main projection space, where moving images spill across walls and floor. More than 100 projectors and a surround setup with 28 speakers cover up to 5,600 m², so the scene feels different from the center, edge, or mezzanine.

Watch the room turn cinematic

Each timed session plays like a looping visual score rather than a gallery walk. Expect about 45–60 minutes of room-sized imagery, synchronized music, and enough visual detail to reward a second loop if you want more context and value.

See the current program

Current programs rotate, but headline shows include Monet – Master of Impressionism, where Impression, Sunrise and Water Lilies drift across the hall and Dinosaurs, where life-size T Rex and Mosasaurus greet you.

Exit through shop and bistro

After the main loop, most visitors head toward the gift shop, where you’ll find exhibition books, postcards, and themed souvenirs. The on-site bistro extends the visit with coffee or a light break, so the experience can feel closer to a half-day outing.

Things to know before booking your Phoenix des Lumières tickets

Booking window

  • Phoenix des Lumières uses timed entry, and same-day booking is often possible. Weekend and public-holiday slots are the ones to reserve earlier if you want a specific showtime. main hall

What’s included

  • A standard ticket covers one selected immersive program in the projection hall for your booked slot. Choose the Dinosaurs ticket only if that specific show is the reason you’re going.

Entrances & flow

  • Online booking mainly skips the ticket-purchase wait, not the timed-entry check or bag control. Arrive about 15 minutes early; busy visits can still mean around 10 minutes at the door.

Ways to explore

  • This is a self-guided visit, not a guided museum tour, so expect a looping audiovisual show. If you want more context, the venue offers a free app with commentary on around 30 works.

Policies & rules

  • Tickets are time-specific and non-refundable, though date or time changes are allowed up to 24 hours before your visit. Wheelchair access covers the core hall, but the main hall stands are excluded.
  • Strollers are not allowed in the hall, so a baby carrier is the better choice. Visits with children under 2 are not recommended, and larger bags must be stored in lockers.
